Abstract
1375656 Reconcentrating brine from electrolytic cells BAYER A G 24 May 1972 [28 May 1971] 24461/72 Heading C7B Impoverished alkali metal (e.g. Na) chloride solution issuing from a mercury cathode cell is reconcentrated by adjusting to a pH of 4 to 10 e.g. with NaOH and subjecting it to flash evaporation up to about saturation concentration, a purified alkali metal chloride solution is added to the concentrated solution to compensate for loss of alkali metal chloride during electrolysis and of water during evaporation, and the resulting reconcentrated solution is returned to the cell.
