Abstract

1,192,997. Agricultural implements. ROTARY HOES Ltd. 10 April, 1968, No. 17160/68. Addition to 1,169,341. Heading A1B. In apparatus for cultivating the soil a plurality of earth working tools are progressed beneath ground level and each tool is simultaneously tiltingly oscillated in a vertical plane containing the direction of travel. In one embodiment the apparatus comprises plough shares 44 arranged side-by-side in the transverse direction of the apparatus. Each share is mounted on a vertical stem 43 attached to a rigid frame 10, 11, 12. Each stem 43 is oscillated by a separate eccentric (51), Fig. 3 (not shown), via sheave 50 and strap 49. The eccentrics (51) are mounted on shaft 34 driven from the power take-off of a tractor through reduction gearing housed in casing 24 and pulleys 35, 36. The eccentrics (51) may be relatively orientated on shaft 34 so that the respective stems 43 are oscillated out of phase. The frame is adapted to be attached to the three point linkage of the tractor and also supports a depth control wheel or roller 19. An earth working tool other than a plough share may be used and another embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), includes a number of stems 43, (43a) each driven by separate eccentrics which may be oriented to oscillate the stems out of phase.
