Abstract

1,192,532. Leaf springs. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 21 May, 1968, No. 24126/68. Heading F2S. In a multi-leaf spring assembly, as used in vehicles, adjacent leaves are fitted into a plastics (e.g. nylon) clamp of the form shown. One leaf is slid into a slot 11 and the adjacent leaf is fitted into a recess 12 whose base 10 is also one of the walls of the slot 11. Once the second leaf has been positioned, a releasable fastening element is secured across the recess. In Fig. 1, this fastener consists of two portions which are integral with the end walls of the recess and are secured to each other by a stud and socket fastener 14. In Fig. 4 (not shown), the recess is closable by a separate cover member (20) which clips on to the end walls of the recess. The common wall 10 may have a projection 21 to engage a hole in the spring leaf in the slot.
