Abstract

[Also in Division B7] A shelf-serving installation comprising a stacking crane 11, Fig. 2, travelling on one or more longitudinal floor rails 2 between shelving and secured against tipping by guides at a higher level, is provided with a crossing bridge 4, Fig. 4, running on cross rails 1 at a slightly lower level than rails 2, enabling the crane to move to another shelving row. Rail 2 crosses rails 1 with gaps at the crossing points and an intermediate longitudinal rail 3. The bridge comprises two connected U-frames 5, 5a with wheels 7 connected at mid-base by a web 9 carrying short sections 10. The arms 5a carrying sprung, displaceable bearing rollers 8, which, when the crane moves on to the bridge, co-operate with stop cams 14 on the crane which is then locked to the bridge by e.g. electromagnetic bolts 21. As the crane moves on to the bridge, the load of the crane via the wheels at the rail sections 10 flexes the arms by bending at the web 9 until wheels 20 on the base rest on the crossrails and rollers 8 contact the stop cams 14 at the ends of the spacers 15. Rollers 22 on arms 5 engage a longitudinal crane girder to hold the crane vertical.
