Abstract

1,192,115. Dispensing articles. VENDO CO. 3, Sept., 1968 [13 May, 1968], No. 41760/68. Heading A4T. A dispensing machine has a refrigerated cabinet housing columns 12 stacked with canned or bottled beverages 16, each column having a loading opening 20 and a releasing mechanism 14, and each column being provided with a rack 10 housing stacked cans, said rack having an opening 54 aligned with opening 20. To reload column 12 with pre-cooled cans from rack 10, the lowermost can 16a is moved upwardly and shifts all the cans thereabove upwardly through opening 54. This swings a panel 48 about shaft 44 from the normal position shown where it closes opening 54 to a deflecting position shown in dotted lines so that cans from the rack are deflected into column opening 20. Movement of panel 48 beyond the deflecting position is prevented by engagement of a shoulder 58 on a pivot bearing 50 of the panel with a leg 74 of a latch 62 which has been shifted to its upper position (see dotted position of Figs. 3 and 4). To reload rack 10 with cans that are not pre-cooled, latch 62 is moved down and panel 48 swung beyond its deflecting position to render opening 54 accessible. Columns 12 may be serpentine or vertical.
