1,191,482. Medicinal plant extracts. SOC. TUQUE ET THERAPEUTIQUE. 24 May, 1967 [24 June, 1966; 21 Sept. 1966], No. 24182/67. Heading A5B. Anthracenic and anthraquinonic glycoside concentrates are obtained from plants containing them (e.g. senna, cascara, altder buckthorn, rhubarb, morinda and aloes) by extracting the dried, powdered plant with at least one substantially anhydrous lower alkanol (MeOH. EtOH, PnOH or BuOH), precipitating with an anhydrous dialkyl ether and suspending the precipitated glycosides in a further quantity of the said anhydrous ether and then separating them therefrom. The product may be used by itself to reat cronic constipation.
