Abstract

1,190,944. Microtomes. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 2, 1968 [May 24, 1967], No.24184/67. Heading G2J. A mounting device, particularly for use with a microtome, comprises a chuck 1 having a backing surface 4 and fixed jaw 5 to provide abutments for a member 15, supporting the material 20 to be cut, the member 15 being clamped in position by a movable jaw 6. The member 15 may be shaped, as shown, as a truncated prism, or may be a rectangular parallelepiped in which case two edges of the member 15 engage the sloping faces 17, 18 of the jaws 5, 6.
