Abstract

1,190,746. Hydrocarbon polymer compositions. PRISMO UNIVERSAL Ltd. 13 July, 1967 [27 July, 1966], No. 33820/66. Heading C3P. [Also in Division E1] Road marking compositions for application by hot-spraying comprise 15 to 30 weight per cent of a binder which consists of 45 to 100 weight per cent of one or more heat stable, thermoplastic, hydrocarbon polymers having a melt viscosity of 0À5 to 6 poises at 175‹ to 205‹ C. and 0 to 55 weight per cent of non- volatile hydrocarbon mineral oil, the composition further comprising 0 to 25 weight per cent of filler of particle size below 75 microns and the remainder aggregate of particle size above 75 microns, and having a softening point in the range 35‹ to 100‹ C. Specified polymers are petroleum resins, polyethylene, polymers of styrene and homologues, vinyl toluene/butadiene copolymers and polyterpenes. Examples describe compositions comprising mineral oil, calcite, titanium dioxide, whiting and glass beads together with vinyl toluene/α-methyl styrene copolymers and (1) petroleum resin, (2) styrene copolymer, and (3) vinyl toluene/ butadiene copolymer, or with (4) terpene resin and polyethylene.
