Abstract
1,190,687. L-Threonine by fermentation. KYOWA HAKKO KOGYO CO. Ltd. 19 Dec., 1968, No. 60435/68. Heading C2C. L-Threonine is produced by culturing an L-threonine-producing micro-organism of the genus Aerobacter, Serratia, Arthrobacter, Paracolobactrum, Erwinia, Proteus, Brevibacterium, Corynebacterium, Pseudomonas, Xanthomonas, Microbacterium, Bacillus, Nocardia, Streptomyces, Agrobacterium, Azotobacter, and Rhizobium, and which requires at least two of the compounds isoleucine, lysine, methionine and diaminopimelic acid as a growth requisite, under aerobic conditions in an aqueous nutrient medium containing an optimum amount or less of said growth requisite and accumulating L-threonine in the resultant liquor. The process is normally effected at 20-40‹ C., at pH 4À5- 9À5, and the nutrient medium preferably contains from 5 mg./l. to 1000 mg/l. of each growth requisite. Examples detail the preparation of suitable mutants having the necessary growth requirements from a species of each of the 17 genera mentioned above and their use in the production of L-threonine.
