Abstract
1,186,822. L-Threonine by fermentation. KYOWA HAKKO KOGYO CO. Ltd. 8 Jan., 1968 [13 Jan., 1967], No. 1104/68. Heading C2C. L-Threonine is produced by a fermentation process by culturing in an aqueous nutrient medium under aerobic conditions a microorganism of the genus Escherichia capable of producing L-threonine which requires for its growth at least both diaminopimelic acid and isoleucine, the nutrient medium containing at least diaminopimelic acid and isoleucine, accumulating L-threonine in the resultant culture liquor, and recovering L-threonine from the liquor. The micro-organism is preferably E. coli ATCC 21151. The process is preferably carried out by culturing at 20-40‹ C. and a pH of 5À0-8À5 in a medium containing 10-300 mg/l. of diaminopimelic acid and 10-200 mg/l. of L-isoleucine.
