Abstract

1,189,705. Levelling vehicle bodies. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. 17 July, 1968 [3 Aug., 1967], No. 35639/67. Heading B7D. [Also in Division F2] In a vehicle levelling device the inclination of the body 10 relative to a chassis frame 14 is adjusted by at least one double-acting hydraulic piston-cylinder device 16, 17 continuously supplied at both ends with liquid under pressure by a pump 21 through pre-set flow restrictors 31, a pendulum 19 adjusting the rate of flow away from the cylinder ends to a reservoir by valves 32 in an assembly 18, so that, when the pendulum is in a mean position, the liquid pressures in the cylinder ends hold the piston in a fixed position, and displacement of the pendulum causes movement of the piston. In the embodiment illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2, the body 10 is mounted for pivotal movement about a longitudinal axis 11, on a frame 12 mounted for pivotal movement about a transverse axis 13 on the chassis frame 14 which is supported by four wheels 15, two piston-cylinder assemblies 16, 17 being provided to produce the levelling action, and the pendulum-valve assembly 18 being mounted on the body 10.
