Abstract

1,189,613. Electron guns. TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 20 March, 1968 [23 March, 1967], No. 13431/68. Heading H1D. A jig for assembling a triple electron gun for a shadow mask colour television tube comprises three support members f 1 -f 3 on which the grids of the respective guns are placed with intervening spacing members, the support members being supported by respective central rods b which extend into their hollow interiors and which are clamped by rotatable members c and d against properly aligned locating grooves a; and three pivoted support devices e rotatable in a vertical plane and each adapted to carry a cathode support member (8, Fig. 1, not shown). After the grids and spacers are placed on support members f, the pivoted support devices e are rotated into vertical positions where they are held by magnetic attraction, and the three cathodes are resiliently pressed towards the remaining components of their associated guns whilst glass support rods are fused to the electrodes. To remove the completed gun structure the supports e are rotated to the positions shown in Fig. 3, the latching devices c and d are released, and the support rods b are allowed to drop, thereby releasing the support members f which are withdrawn sideways from the jig and then downwards out of the completed gun structure.
