Abstract

118,954. Dickson, H. C. Dec. 1, 1917. Hardening; tempering.-In apparatus for quenching heated metal articles for hardening, tempering, &c., the articles fall from the furnace down shoots c, b in a bath of liquid a. The shoot b is arranged to be oscillated laterally by means of gearing j, h, to discharge the cooled articles into baskets n of which there may be one on each side of the shoot b. The basket n can be raised out of the liquid by gearing p, q, and then tipped to discharge the articles. Means may be provided for circulating and cooling the liquid.
