Abstract

1,189,058. Dispersible cocoa agglomerates. BENSDORP G.m.b.H. 26 June, 1968 [26 June, 1967], No. 30493/68. Headings A2B and A2E. Granules of at least 200 microns and readily dispersible in water comprise cocoa with maltose and/or sorbitol, preferably in an amount of 2.5-10 wt. per cent. A monosaccharide, for example sorbinose, fructose, glucose, lyxose, or mannose, may also be present, preferably in an amount of 6-20 wt. per cent. The granules may be prepared by mixing cocoa powder with a solution containing the maltose and/or sorbitol with or without a monosaccharide, forming into granules of at least 200 microns, for example by spraying the mixture from the top of a spray tower into an atmosphere of damp steam, and drying the granules.
