Abstract

118,894. London & Westminster Industrial Syndicate, and Molesworth, H. B. Sept. 19, 1917. Balance frames and equalizing - levers; three-point suspension. Relates to six-wheeled motor-vehicles of the kind described in Specification 3277/07, in which an additional pair of steering wheels are arranged behind the driving-wheels, and consists chiefly in mounting the wheels on compensating pivoted beams so as to allow each wheel to have independently vertical movement, in means for facilitating steering in either direction, and in means for raising any wheel for repairs, &c. The vehicle, as shown diagrammatically in side and front elevation and plan in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, respectively, has its chassis 1 supported with a three-point suspension on two lateral beams 8 and one front beam, or axle 30, all the beams being centrally pivoted. The lateral beams have the driving-wheels 11 mounted on short axles at their front ends, and the additional steering wheels 24<1> mounted on swivelling axles at their rear ends, the driving wheels being driven by sprocket gearing, as shown, or by toothed or worm gearing from a live axle in the casing 3. The front steering-wheels 37 are mounted on swivelling axles supported in the ends of the front beam or axle, and both pairs of steering wheels are connected together by suitable linkage 41, 43.
