Abstract
1,188,735. Stirrers. F. VOGTLE. 22 Feb., 1968 [2 March, 1967], No. 8566/68. Heading B1C. A stirring rod 1 which is freely movable under the influence of a moving magnetic field in the container for the medium to be stirred has extensions in planes transverse to its length, the whole being corrosion-protected. As shown the extensions are circular discs 2. 3, 4; they may be rotatable in the rod and detachable and/or flexible. They may have axial or eccentric bores to receive stirring rods of different sizes (see Figs. 6 and 10, not shown). They may have peripheral flats or recesses or be polygonal to prevent rolling (see Figs. 6, 8 and 9, not shown) or be elliptical and of tear-drop section on the major axis (see Figs. 11-13, not shown). The rod and extensions may be covered with, or the extensions made of ceramic, non-magnetic metal, or synthetic plastics material.
