Abstract

Ferromagnetic and non-magnetic metallurgical powders are continuously mixed in a drum, such as a rotating, truncated, multiplane pyramid with a multitude of internally arranged but staggered ferromagnetic cores, in form of dividing walls, partly covering the cross-sectional area of the drum. A stationary magnetic system, arranged external to the drum and consisting of a multitude of magnetic oils, being the same in number and relative position as the cores, provides a pulsating magnetic field, whereby creating an additional mixing force vertical to the powder flow, resulting in improvement to the degree of homogeneity and plant throughput.
