Abstract

1,188,719. Digital/analog converters. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP. 21 Oct., 1968 [29 Sept., 1967], No. 44525/67. Heading G4H. Apparatus for applying an anlog signal dependent on a digital input signal to a load 11 includes a digital/analog converter 12 supplying an analog signal to the load and a comparator 16 comparing the output signal from the load with a further signal dependent on the digital input, the error signal from the comparator 16 being fed to the load. In the embodiment described the converter 12 supplies a current to the load via a transistor 13 and a further digital/analog converter 14 supplies a current of opposite polarity via transistor 15. The voltage across resistor R F in series with the load is compared in comparator 16 with the output of a digital/analog voltage comparator an error signal being fed to the load via amplifier 18 and transistor 15 when they differ. The load may be the scan coil of an electron beam machine for forming patterns on a substrate.
