Abstract
1,188,718. Pulse generating circuits; phase detection. BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP. Ltd. 24 Dec., 1968 [25 Sept., 1967], No. 43618/67. Headings H3A and H3T. A circuit for deriving a pulse having a fixed time relationship with a reference sine wave comprises first and second paths, 3, 4 respectively, each including means for altering the phase of the reference sine wave, the magnitude of the alteration being different for the two paths, and a coincidence gate 5 responsive to the altered waveforms to generate a signal spanning any chosen part of the reference sine wave. As described, the circuits 3, 4 respectively comprise phase retarding and advancing circuits, and the coincidence gate comprises diodes D1, D2 and transistor TR1. The arrangement is used to provide reference pulses for a phase detector comprising field-effect transistor FET, being applied to the gate while the signal whose phase is to be determined is applied from transformer T1 to the source-drain path. A storage capacitor C1, smoothing capacitor C2 and roll-off capacitor C3 are provided.
