Abstract

1,174,503. Frequency modulation receivers. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 28 April, 1967 [30 April, 1966], No. 19776/67. Addition to 1,163,330. Headings H3A and H3R. In a F.M. receiver as described in Specification 1,163,330, the frequency discriminator responds to both the leading edge and the trailing edge of the rectangular wave I.F. signal, thereby reducing phase errors caused by interference and the limiting process. In Fig. 2, the I.F. source 1 produces push-pull outputs at 2 and 3; a positive excursion at 3 charges capacitor 5 through diode 7 and a negative excursion discharges the capacitor through transistor 9. In this way pulses of charge are applied to the output capacitor 11 at each leading edge and trailing edge of the input through the transistors 8 and 9 alternatively. The ratio of the magnitudes of the outputs at 2 and 3 may be adjustable to minimize the effect of interference. In a modified circuit, Fig. 3 (not shown), one of the transistors is omitted and the capacitors 4 an 5 are connected to the output transistor through diodes (12 and 13).
