1,188,212. Fluoro - amido - silanes and siloxanes. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 7 March, 1968 [15 March, 1967], No. 12173/67. Headings C3S and C3T. [Also in Division D1] The invention comprises fluorine-containing silanes and siloxanes, the silanes having the formula where Y is H, Cl or F attached to the terminal carbon of R # , R # is a perfluoroalkylene group, R is H or alkyl, R<SP>1</SP> is a divalent hydrocarbon group free from aliphatic unsaturation, R<SP>11</SP> is a hydrolysable group, R<SP>111</SP> is a hydrocarbyl or hydrolysable group and R<SP>1V</SP> is a hydrocarbyl group, and the siloxanes being the hydrolysis products of these silanes. The hydrolysable groups may be halogen, alkoxy or acyloxy but hydrogen is excluded. The compounds may be prepared by (1) reacting a hydrogenosilane with an N-alkenyl amide of a perfluoroalkyl carboxylic acid, or (2) reacting an alkyl ester of a perfluorocarboxylic acid with an aminoalkyl silicon compound. The siloxanes may also be prepared by hydrolysis of the silanes, alone or with other silanes. Uses.-Treatment of textiles, glass and masonry; anti-foam agents in organic solvent systems.
