[Also in Division B7] A ramp pivoted to a ship, large car, or passenger ferrying air-cushion vehicle comprises triangular plate members 7-9 pivoted on a rod 3 on an axis 4. The plate 9 pivoted by its apex can also pivot about an axis 15 by engagement of a spigot 18 in a recess 19. The non-pivoted ends of the plates are joined by joints 16 which allow limited relative movement and the ramp is raised and lowered by cables 6. The arrangement allows twisting of the ramp when the ferry and landing are misaligned. In a modification only two triangular members are used, one pivoted by the base and one by the apex and having their contiguous sides forming the diagonal of the rectangular ramp. In other modifications the joints 16 are omitted and the plates are maintained contiguous by cables or the plates may be replaced by a lattice-frame structure.
