Abstract
1,187,486. Cleaning tanks. SAMUEL HODGE & SONS Ltd. 31 July, 1968 [7 Sept., 1967], No. 40999/67. Heading A4F. [Also in Division B2] A tank washing device comprises a rotary turret 10 carrying nozzle heads 13, 14 mounted for rotation about a horizontal axis and having nozzles A. B, C for directing jets of washing fluid in different directions, and a drive system powered by the washing fluid supplied to the nozzles to rotate the turret and drive the nozzle heads, the turret carrying two nozzle heads mounted for rotation about a common axis and the drive system being constructed to oscillate each nozzle head over an angular range such that one nozzle always discharges upwards partially to counteract the downward discharge of another, the nozzle heads being so arranged and so driven that the nozzles of one head are symmetrical with respect to those of the other about a vertical plane through their axis of oscillation. Preferably each nozzle head supports three nozzles in fixed acute angled relation between adjacent nozzles.
