Abstract

993,298. Dish-washing machines. WHIRLPOOL CORPORATION. Nov. 28, 1963 [Dec. 21, 1962], No. 47078/63. Heading A4F. In apparatus for washing articles such as dishes a jet 39 of washing liquid is projected through space from a nozzle 30 into a venturi tube 46 where the pressure of the jet is increased before it is discharged through openings 43 at the upper end of a tube 38, to be sprayed downwardly on to dishes 22 in a holder 20, whilst a part of the liquid passes downwardly through passages 67 between the members 38, 46 into hollow spray arms 52 to be sprayed upwardly through slots 63 on to the dishes 22. The arms 52 are rotated by the reaction of the jets discharged thereform and are rotatably mounted in an eccentric bearing 54 to facilitate alignment of the venturi 48 with the nozzle 30. Spray arms 36 are also rotatably mounted on the nozzle 30 and are supplied with cleaning liquid through passages 33 to discharge it upwardly on to dishes in a lower holder mounted on wheels 24. Liquid is also sprayed downwardly on to the latter through slots 65 in the arms 52.
