Abstract
1,186,898. α,#-Dihaloacrylic acids; pyrimidine derivatives. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 26 July, 1967 [28 July, 1966], No. 34316/67. Heading C2C. α,#-Dihaloacrylic acids or salts thereof are obtained by heating to 110‹ to 180‹ C. dihalomaleic acids or anhydrides, acid salts, esters or hemiesters thereof, in the presence of a solvent which consists of or contains water, or only when dihalomaleic acids or salts are used, which is an inert non-aqueous solvent. 2 - Phenyl - 4 - amino - 5 - chloropyrimidine may be obtained by reacting benzamidine with α,#-dichloroacrylic acid, obtainable by the above process, and replacing the hydroxyl group in the 2 - phenyl - 4 - hydroxy - 5 - chloropyrimidine, so produced, by an amino group.
