Abstract

1,186,809. Mowers. VOGEL & NOOT A.G. 9 Oct., 1968 [31 Oct., 1967], No. 47931/68. Heading A1F. A double cutter-bar mower having a swash plate drive for converting the rotary motion of a drive shaft to the reciprocating motion for driving the cutters in opposite directions comprises a single swash plate 1, a rockable yoke 2 in which the swash plate is mounted and a rockable lever 3 arranged to drive the cutters reciprocably. In one embodiment the linkage rods 5, 6 for each of the cutters extend in opposite directions and are connected by spring extensions 16, 17 and pins 14, 15 to the lever 3, and at their other ends to rocking levers 7 centrally pivoted on the frame (not shown). The further ends of the rocking levers are attached to the cutters 11 by a spherical end portion 9 connecting in U-shaped members 10 on the cutters. In another embodiment the linkage rods 5, 6 extend in the same direction. The mower may be mounted at one side of the tractor or to the front or rear of the tractor and may have its own gearing.
