Abstract
1,185,350. Sampling circuits. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 6 Nov., 1968 [9 Nov., 1967], No. 51098/67. Heading H3T. [Also in Division G1] A sampling gate is enabled by a control pulse derived from the peak of the signal to be sampled is opened by the next timing pulse and closed and disabled by a succeeding timing pulse. In Fig. 3 the control pulse at the base of T9 opens a gate D1, D2 and changes the state of a bistable circuit T5, T6 to hold the gate open. The next timing pulse at D1 changes over a bistable circuit T7, T8 and this opens the sampling gate, not shown. The following timing pulse restores T7, T8 and this closes the sampling gate and restores T5, T6 so that gate D1, D2 is closed. The control pulse is derived from the peak of the signal to be sampled by differentiating the signal and detecting zero crossings by means of a Schmitt trigger. The circuit is used to sample signals modulated on a carrier. These are detected by a diode D, Fig. 2, and the resulting output is filtered by means of a capacitor C1 and a capacitive feedback amplifier T3, T4.
