Abstract

1,185,327. Aryl aminothiazoles. FERRANIA S.p.A. 5 May, 1967 [6 May, 1966], No. 21124/67. Heading C2C. [Also in Division H1] Compounds of formula wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are H, aryl or aryl substituted by OCH 3 , OC 2 H 5 , NHCH 3 , NHC 2 H 5 , N(CH 3 ) 2 , N(C 2 H 5 ) 2 , COCH 3 , COC 2 H 5 , Cl, Br, I, NO 2 , NO or CO 2 H, are made the condensation of an acyl halide with a thiourea derivative. In the specific embodiments, 2-α-naphthylamino- 4,5-diphenylthiazole is made by the condensation of desyl chloride and α-naphthyl thiourea whilst the 2-#-naphthylamino-, 2-N-phenyl-, N-#-naphthylamino-, 2-(p-anilino)-phenylamino, and 2-(4<SP>1</SP>-diethylamino)-phenylaminoderivatives are made by replacing α-naphthyl thiourea with the appropriate thiourea derivative. The reaction of N,N-diphenylthiourea and phenacyl bromide yields 2-N,N-diphenylamino- 4 - phenylthiazole: 2 - α - naphthylamino - 4 - p-diphenylthiazole is likewise afforded by the reaction of 4-phenyl-α-bromo acetophenone with α-naphthythiourea.
