Abstract

1,184,014. Polyamides; curing epoxy resins. VICTOR WOLF Ltd. 18 March, 1968, No. 12875/68. Headings C3B and C3R. Polymers are obtained by reacting at elevated temperatures (a) the reaction product of maleic acid or anhydride with a mono-unsaturated C 14-22 fatty acid or a mono-, di- or triester thereof with a C 1-8 alcohol; (b) 5 to 100 wt. per cent of (a) of dimerized linoleic acid; and (c) a di- or polyamine. The claims are restricted to processes wherein the product is a polyamideimide. Optional co-reactants are 2 to 20 wt. per cent of another C 8-12 dicarboxylic acid and 1 to 20 wt. per cent of a C 2-22 monocarboxylic acid. Several examples of the various reactants are given. The products are useful in film forming applications, ink manufacture and adhesive compositions and as curing agents for epoxy resins. Reference is made to Specifications 956,709, 1,147,510 and 1,184,013.
