Abstract

118,398. Haddan, R., (Corning Glass Works). April 15, 1918. Production of metal.-Relates to the manufacture of glass capable of absorbing ultra-violet rays and as nearly colourless as possible. The invention consists in using vanadium, preferably in an oxidized form. The vanadium compound may be used in conjunction with titanium or cerium compounds, manganese dioxide &c. Nitre may be added to prevent reduction of the oxides.
