Abstract

1,183,494. Change-speed control. ROOTES MOTORS Ltd. 12 Sept., 1968 [14 June, 1967]. No. 27399/67. Heading F2D. A control lever for an automatic gear has positions P (Park), R (Reverse), N (Neutral), D (Drive), L (Low); the L position being defined by a stop member 12 carried by the lever engaging an abutment 25 on a fixed latch plate 14, and the lever being located in the positions DNR on movement of the lever from the L position by the stop engaging abutment surfaces 16-18 on the latch plate. In order to locate the lever in its N and D positions on movement of the lever towards the L position a member 20 is pivoted to the latch plate and has abutment surfaces 22, 23 engageable by the stop member 12. The stop member 12 is manually withdrawn against spring pressure when the control lever is to be adjusted.
