Abstract

1,182,085. Boric oxide. UNITED STATES BORAX & CHEMICAL CORP. 18 Sept., 1968 [20 Oct., 1967], No. 44367/68. Heading C1A. Boric oxide is made by heating boric acid which contains 0À5-6% wt. of an alkali metal sulphate or chloride, and which may also contain up to 15% wt. of free water, to a temperature of at least 900‹ C. for a time sufficient to substantially dehydrate the boric acid, which is usually between 15 mins. and 2 hours.
