1,181,285. Ruminant feeds. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 14 May, 1968 [2 June, 1967], No. 25499/67. Heading A2B. A non-protein nitrogen (NPN) feedstuff comprises a NPN compound, for example urea, biuret, ammonium sulphate, or ammonium phosphate, in admixture with water-soluble hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. The composition may be prepared by mixing particles of the NPN compound with finely divided methylcellulose and aggregating the dry mixture by pelleting or rolling. Alternatively particles of the NPN compound may be coated with a solution of the methylcellulose. The particles may then be aggregated and dried. Alternatively the components may be formed into a paste with water, which may be supplied in the form of molasses, and the paste then shaped and dried, for example by extrusion or sheeting. The paste may also include grain meal and spices. The dried products may be coated with a polymeric waterproof material, such as polyvinyl chloride or a copolymer thereof with polyvinyl acetate, for example by spraying with a solution thereof.
