Abstract

1,180,787. Tubular containers. HYGIENIX INDUSTRIES Ltd. 8 Oct., 1968 [18 Oct., 1967], No. 47410/67. Heading B8D. A resiliently flexible synthetic resinous tubular container 1, e.g. of polypropylene and for storing clinical thermometers or surgical probes, is closed by flattening and setting ends IA to form walls 1B, e.g. by heat and pressure. Both of the ends 1A may have indentations 2 to induce a locking action. One or both of the ends 1A are opened by exerting pressure on their side walls 1C. Such an opening action may be facilitated by lines of weakness along the side walls 1C, whilst medial lines of weakness (1D), Fig. 5 (not shown), may be provided on the walls 1B, so that each end, when open, is of square cross-section. When the pressure is released from the side walls 1C the ends 1A reclose. The container may be transparent, and may be formed from extruded tubing. The resin may be autoclavable for sterilization purposes.
