Abstract

1,180,774. Quality control. VAUXHALL MOTORS Ltd. 19 Sept., 1968 [16 Nov., 1967]. No. 52231/67. Heading G4D. The quality of a batch of articles is estimated by depressing an accept or reject lever as each article is tested. A disc 21 is rotated by a clockwork motor and release of an escapement mechanism at each operation. The reject lever 28 also operates a double pawl-and-rack mechanism to step an indicator 4 along a bar 5. The disc 21 carries an insulating disc 1 with conductive tracks 2, 3 for co-operation with a contact on the indicator 4 so that an accept or reject signal is given when the quality of the batch is sufficiently estimated. The disc 1 is interchangeable according to the standard required, and the apparatus is portable, Fig. 2. Reverse movement of the accept lever frees the escapement so that the disc is driven to starting position. At the same time the reject count indicator 4 is returned by a spring.
