Abstract
1,180,384. Vibrating toy animal. B. S. BENSON and D. A. BROWN. 11 May, 1967 [25 May, 1966; 5 Aug., 1966; 8 Feb., 1967], Nos. 23414/66, 35131/66 and 5961/67. Heading A6S. A toy animal comprises an elongated body, at least one leg adjacent one end of the body, at least one leg adjacent the other end of the body, at least one eccentric weight associated with the body and means for causing rotation or oscillation of the weight or weights whereby in operation the legs are caused to vibrate resulting in movement of the toy across a supporting surface. The toy may have a polystyrene body 1 fitted with interchangeable legs 2 and tail 14. Battery 4 is connected to motor 5 which via shaft 7 causes rotation of weight 8. An on/off switch 6 may be connected in series with an external switch and rheostat by a plug which fits between the battery and one of its connections. Modifications to cause different types and direction of movement are: removal and change of position of some of the legs; bending of the legs so that one leg rests less firmly on the supporting surface; some or all of the legs may be provided with weights which slide down the legs during operation, changing the balance of the toy and its direction of travel; two or more weights with different eccentricities and which rotate at different speeds, the relative speeds being adjustable.
