1,180,207. Gear-shaving cutters. CARL HURTH MASCHINEN - UND ZAHNRADFABRIK. 17 Jan., 1969 [17 Jan., 1968], No. 2827/69. Heading B3K. A toothed cutting tool, particularly a shaving wheel, for cutting metal from the flanks of a toothed workpiece, has primary grooves 13 extending generally in the direction from root to tip of the teeth and secondary grooves 16, 17 extending at an angle therewith and intersecting the cutting edges of the lands so as to shorten the length of chips cut from the workpiece in use. The secondary grooves on the various lands may be offset with respect to each other and the spacing thereof may vary over the height of the tooth.
