A cranked sun visor bearing spindle 1 has a metal core 2, a polyamide synthetic coating 3 providing a conical journal bearing surface 5 cooperating with a bearing 4, and exposed metal ends 2b, 8. A lug 6 is inserted into the visor at 7a and the coating 3 may be provided with recesses, notches or grooves such as (11), (13), (14), Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), for supporting therearound moulded protective padding (12), (15). The serrations 8 secure a cap 9 of a spring 10. '
