Abstract
1,179,293. Cooling towers. MASCHINENBAU A.G. BALCKE. 6 April, 1967 [9 April, 1966], No. 15905/67. Heading F4K. In a cooling tower wherein water to be cooled is conveyed above irrigation plates 14 by channels 1, said channels are provided with base apertures 2 and with overflows 3 and 4, water emerging from the apertures 2 being evenly distributed over the plates 14 via distributer devices 16, while surplus water flowing through overflows 3 and 4 reaches the distributer devices 16 via guide means 17. In other embodiments, each individual channel 1 can either have a further outer channel (Figs. 4-6) around it, the latter channel being provided with a discharge which concentrically surrounds the outlet socket of the internal channel, or have said outer channel replaced by a guiding device consisting of a box (Figs. 7-9) enclosing said inner channel. Further embodiments include subdividing the channel 1, by a partition wall (11, Fig. 10) situated longitudinally in the channel, into two parts, the surplus from the water conveyed into the first part flowing into the second part via overflows situated in said intermediate wall, or as in another case, providing in the outlet of the channels, concentric pipes (12, Fig. 13) of small diameter, said pipes terminating at various heights.
