Abstract

1,179,001. Control of stage lighting. THORN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 15 May, 1967, No. 22535/67. Heading H2H, A lighting system particularly for stage lighting is controlled by the difference between an input signal and a voltage derived from a simulated load. A relaxation oscillator comprising a capacitor C and unijunction transistor UJT supplies firing pulses to thyristors SCR4, SCR5 which in turn fire thyristors SCR1, SCR2 in series with lamps L. At the same time firing pulses are also supplied to another thyristor SCR3 controlling current into a simulated load R18, R38, C4, the voltage across which is tapped from a potentiometer R39, R40 and applied to one input of a difference amplifier VT1, VT2 the other input of which receives a control signal CS. Amplifiers VT1, VT2 through transistors VT4, VT5 controls the charging rate of capacitor C and hence the average voltage across lamps L. Saturable inductors LF, LF may be included in the circuit. The voltage across capacitor C4 is stated to be substantially representative of that across the lamps L. The system adjusts itself so that both input voltages to the difference amplifier are equalized.
