Abstract

1,178,940. Moulding pulleys. ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS Inc. 28 Nov., 1968 [21 Feb., 1968], No. 56611/68. Heading B5A. [Also in Division F2] In an injection moulded pulley comprising a body part and a bearing bush 30, wherein a drive belt locates around the pulley body rim 16 between flanges 18, the body part of the pulley is injection moulded from polypropylene, polyethylene or polystyrene, preferably containing glass or asbestos fibres or talc filler, with chamfered portions having serrations 24 being provided at both ends of the interior of the body part hub 12 whereby the bearing bush 30, which is moulded therein in a separate moulding operation, is interlocked with the body part against relative rotary and axial movement. The bearing bush 30 is moulded from acetal resin, polytetrafluoroethylene or nylon, which may be filled with glass or asbestos fibre, mica, talc or molybdenum disulphide, and the acetal resin or nylon may be filled with polytetrafluoroethylene. End faces 34 of the bush 30 provide bearing surfaces against restraining means in use of the pulley, and chamfers 36 facilitate insertion of a shaft on which the pulley rotates.
