Abstract
1,178,352. Valves. BROUGHTON CORP. 15 March, 1968 [26 Sept., 1967], No. 12642/68. Heading F2V. A regulator for controlling the vacuum supplied to a flat box paper making machine has a chamber A connected to a vacuum source by pipe 14, a chamber B connected to a load by pipe 16, a chamber C to which air at atmospheric pressure is admitted through duct 46 and filter 47, diaphragms 21, 22, ducts 24, 28a, 28b interconnecting chambers A and B, duct 40 interconnecting chambers B and C and a double closure member 51, 52 which admits atmosphere or vacuum to chamber B in response to movement of the diaphragms. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) the upper diaphragm is dispensed with and the vacuum source is connected to an inlet corresponding with vent 12. Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), illustrate arrangements in which one or more regulators, fed from a tapping in the main vacuum supply line, are connected in series with a further regulator having a diaphragm subjected on opposite sides to up and down stream pressures and provided with a double beat closure member in the main vacuum supply line.
