Abstract

1,178,306. Valves. CLESSE-SOC. D'EXPLOITATION DES ATELIERS DU PECQ. 27 Jan., 1967 [28 Jan., 1966], No. 4188/67. Heading F2V. A gas governor -comprises a gas valve M actuated by double diaphragm device R in response to the outlet pressure. The outlet pressure normally acts on the lower diaphragm 38 which is coupled to the valve member 20 through lever 21. This pressure is taken through passage 43 from the space round a sleeve 19 so as to compensate for variations in the flow rate. The lower diaphragm is loaded through a force multiplying linkage 53. by a spring 50 which bears directly on the upper diaphragm. The space between the diaphragms is open to atmosphere through a restriction 42 and the upper diaphragm is open to atmosphere through a screened vent 40. In the event of rupture of the lower diaphragm, the outlet pressure is effective on the upper diaphragm and since the effect of the linkage is removed, the outlet pressure is controlled at a lower value and indicates the failure. Similarly, in the event of a leaky valve, the lower diaphragm is raised on closure of the valve to open an auxiliary valve 61, 62 into the intermediate chamber and the outlet pressure is again reduced.
