Abstract
1,178,223. Cold separation of gas mixtures. LEUNA-WERKE " WALTER ULBRICHT " VEB. 4 July, 1968, No. 32034/68. Heading F4P. Helium and neon are recovered from a gaseous mixture thereof with nitrogen containing argon, crypton and possibly oxygen, e.g. the expansion gases of an air fractionating plant after removal of hydrogen by combustion and subsequent drying and removal of gaseous products of combustion, by passing the gaseous mixture under 4 to 35 atmospheres pressure into the condensation space of a gas refrigerator operating by the Stirling process, thereby condensing all but the helium and neon which is thus concentrated and is withdrawn as gaseous product; the condensate being withdrawn and passed to an argon, crypton and xenon separating apparatus.
