Abstract

1,177,870. Dispensing liquids under gaseous pressure. AFA CORP. OF FLORIDA. May 14, 1968 [May 15, 1967], No. 22794/ 68. Heading F1R. A snap-acting dispensing valve for a pressurized dispensing container comprises a spring-loaded valve member 56 having a through-bore which, on depression of the valve member, communicates with the container dip tube, the snap-action being provided by a straight portion 78 of a spring 62, portion 78 being biased against the valve member and engaging under a shoulder 80 when the valve member is depressed, until sufficient pressure is applied to force portion 78 to one side, whereupon rapid downward movement of the valve member takes place. On release of the valve member, spring portion 78 assists the rest of the spring to provide a rapid closure of the valve. In Fig. 1, a side orifice 64 in the valve member is controlled by a sealing washer 52. In Fig. 5, the sealing washer 152 has a slit 166 which opens when the valve member is depressed, and connects end orifice 164 in the valve member with the container interior via dip tube socket 44.
