Abstract

117,777. Butler, H. M., and Davis, C. W. Jan. 29, 1918. Axles. - A rear axle is formed by stamping, forging, or pressing and comprises a central opentopped basin 1 for the gearing and two side members 2 which carry the road wheels and are bored to take the driving axle. Bearings 3 for the springs and flanges 3<a> are provided. In a modification, the side members 2 are separate from the central member 1. The central member may be formed with strengthening-ribs and a flange 4 is formed to take a cover.
