1,177,513. Coated sheet material. CESKOSLOVENSKE ZAVODY GUMARENSKE A PLASTIKARSKE OBOROVE REDITELSTVI. 4 April, 1967 [28 April, 1966], No. 15370/ 67. Heading B2E. [Also in Division C3] A water vapour permeable sheet material is prepared by mixing together a solution of a polymer and a solvent and a dispersion of 0.5-20% by weight based on the polymer of fibrids in a medium comprising a non-solvent of the polymer, the quantity of said non-solvent being sufficient to convert the said solution into a colloidal dispersion of the polymer, forming a layer of the colloidal dispersion and submitting the layer to the action of a coagulant of the polymer in which the fibrates and the polymer are not soluble. The polymer may be a polyester, a polyether urethane, a polyether urea, a block polymerized urethane urea, a polyamide, a carboxylated copolymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile, a cellulose derivative, a vinylic polymer or mixtures of these. The fibrid may be made from polyamide 6, polyamide 66, polyamide 610, polyethylene terephthalate, polyester-containing copolymers, polyurethanes, elastomeric polymers, polyvinyl chloride, polymethylmethacrylate, copolymers of acrylonitrile, copolymers of butadiene, copolymers of styrene and cellulose. Numerous suitable solvents are also specified. The coagulant may include as a component a solvent for the polymer and the non-solvent medium may also include a solvent for the polymer. The layer may be formed on a woven textile backing or a felt.
