Abstract
1,176,873. Stud and socket fastenings; connecting elongated members at right angles. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 20 March, 1967 [22 March, 1966], No. 12975/67. Headings E2A and E2B. Two channel section members 10 and 11, for supporting building construction elements, e.g. wall panels, are formed with curled-over, lipped edges 13, 14 and 15, 16, each edge defining and partially enclosing a cylindrical recess, members 10 and 11 being connected together by two L-shaped pins 12 fitting closely within the recesses enclosed by edges 14, 15 and 16. Edge 14 is cut away at 17 and 18 to facilitate insertion of the pins. One or both of the pin limbs engaging in edge 14 may engage in the part of this edge located between the cut away portions 17 and 18. Each pin may have a thickened central portion to limit insertion of its limbs within the recesses. If the limbs engaging edge 14 extend in the same direction, the central portions of the two limbs may be connected by a brace. Sealing members, Figs. 1-3 (not shown), may be provided for fitting over the edges 14-16 and between the side of member 10 and the end of member 11.
