Abstract
1,176,735. Control of A.C. motors. TOKYO KEIKI SEIZOSHO CO. Ltd. 4 April, 1967, No. 15288/67. Heading H2J. [Also in Division G1] A starter system for a gyrocompass 1 includes a time switch 4 which enables the gyrocompass to be connected to a power supply 2 to start the gyrocompass at a pre-set time. The 50 c/s. output from the supply 2 is converted to 200-400 c/s. by a rectifier 6 and an inverter 7. In the manual position of the switch 3, when the contact f, is connected to the contact d, a solenoid 51 is energized and its switch 5 connects the power supply to the gyrocompass. For automatic operation, the switch 3 is set so that contacts g and d are connected. At the end of an interval of time, pre-set on the time switch 4, contacts a and c of sets of contacts 41 and 42 are connected. The gyroscompass is therefore connected to the power supply and simultaneously the contacts c and a of a relay 8 are connected. The relay 8 prevents an alarm 11 sounding unless the power supply to the gyroscompass fails in which event the contacts c and b of the relay 8 are connected so that the alarm is connected to a power supply 10 through a changeover switch 9. The second position of the switch 9 switches off the alarm and in this position the alarm will sound again when the power supply is eventually restored.
