An electrolytic solution for zinc plating comprises 15-200 g/1 zinc acetate, 50-350 g/1 potassium chloride, 5-100 g/1 sodium or potassium gluconate, and at least one of the glossing agents dextrin, gelatine, urea or triethanolamine. A chromate film may be formed on the zinc plate produced.
